Important Pilot Advisory
Salty Approach is a private airstrip.
Prior permission or active membership is required before landing.
No unauthorized aircraft are permitted.
- Aircraft are typically parked along the south side, mid-field
- Homes line both sides of the runway
- Strong crosswinds require extreme caution
- Expect a significant wind gradient on short final when descending below roofline level
This airstrip is intended for experienced pilots only, comfortable with short-field, grass-strip, and island operations.
About North Captiva Island
North Captiva Island is one of the barrier islands off Florida’s west coast, located west of Cape Coral. The island is bordered by Pine Island Sound to the east and the Gulf of Mexico to the west.
Access to the island is limited to:
- Boat (via Pine Island Sound)
- Private aircraft (members or approved guests only)
There are no bridges, no cars, and no crowds—just nature, community, and island time.
Guest Pass Requirements
Guest passes are limited and strictly enforced.
A guest pass may be requested only under the following circumstances:
- You are renting a home from a Salty Approach member
- You are flying in to visit a member currently in residence
No other aircraft are permitted to land.
Salty Approach is open to members and approved guests only.
Liability Release & Assumption of Risk
By receiving permission to land at Salty Approach, all guests acknowledge and accept full responsibility for their presence and activities on the airstrip and surrounding property.
Guests:
- Release Salty Approach, LLC, its members, and agents from all liability
- Assume all risks associated with landing, taxiing, parking, and departure
- Accept responsibility for any damage caused to the runway, property, or equipment
- Agree to make prompt payment for any damages incurred
This release is binding upon heirs, representatives, and assigns.
